State-of-the-Art Facilities

The Johnson & Johnson Diabetes Institute is investing significant resources to open and operate new state-of-the-art instructional facilities in a number of countries. This commitment also includes underwriting all program costs for health care professionals to attend these training centers, including travel and accommodations.

The first center opened in Japan in October 2007 followed by the U.S. facility in February 2008. Additional facilities in China and France will open by mid-2008.

Future plans also call for expanded reach within countries and across the globe via distance learning offerings. Plus, the graduation of uniquely skilled professionals provides an opportunity for a global network of alumni, who link through the Institute, to share information and insights on diabetes care.

Japan
The Japan facility is located in Tokyo and features a four-tiered, university approach—with beginning, intermediate, advanced and master’s courses, reflecting the desire among Japanese CDEs for current and consistent training and education.

North America
The Silicon Valley facility is located in Milpitas, California. A two-day intensive course is offered twice a week and covers training on the standards of care for diabetes treatment, the use of insulin pump therapy, blood glucose management software solutions, reimbursement, innovative practice and chronic care models, patient communication and family dynamics.

Europe
The Europe facility will be located in Paris and will feature six menu-type intensive courses that will run one to two days each. Training will include such topics as insulin therapy and transitions, gestational diabetes, the diabetic foot, and more.

China
The China facility will be located in Beijing and will reflect the country’s hospital-driven health care system and the focus on establishing and utilizing blood glucose management practices and guidelines.
